Structure of Undergraduate Studies (Bachelor)

Most Bachelor's degree programs at the Hebrew University are taught in Hebrew. The Rothberg International School offers an International Bachelor's Degree taught in English.

A Bachelor’s degree program (BA, BSc, etc.) is usually completed in three years. Studies extend over three-and-a-half years in Accounting, Law and Occupational Therapy and over four years in Computer Engineering and Nursing. Studies in Pharmacy and Nutrional Sciences extend over for years including six months of practical training.
Some programs offer an accelerated track combining BA and MA studies. Students may join the program in advanced years, based on their grades.
Undergraduate studies are offered in three different tracks:

  • Single-Major Track: Students take a full program of studies in one department. Examples: Medicine; Nutritional Sciences.
  • Dual-Major Track: Students take courses in two departments, according to both departments' program of studies. Examples: Business Administration and Economics; Mathematics and Philosophy.
  • Structured Combined Track: Students take courses from two or more departments in a specially designed program. Examples: Combined Program in Philosophy, Economics and Political Science (PAKAM); Psychobiology.

Some faculties offer studies in both dual-major and single-major tracks, as detailed below.

Faculty of Humanities

Studies are offered in the dual-major track only.
The dual-major track includes courses in two departments. The second major may be chosen from another faculty.
The  single-major track is open to outstanding students that have successfully completed the first year of studies, achieved an average of at least 92 in the program they wish to continue in, and receive a recommendation of the program advisor.
The total number of credits must be at least 120.

Faculty of Social Sciences

All first-year students must study in the dual-major track.
The dual-major track includes courses in two departments. The second major may be chosen from another faculty.

The single-major track includes a major in the Faculty of Social Sciences and complementary courses from any faculty, bringing the total number of credits to at least 120. Acceptance to this track is possible only in the second year of study and is based on the student's first-year grades in both departments.

Faculty of Science

Most departments offer both dual-major and single-major tracks.
Studies can be taken at an expanded or regular scope. In the dual-major track it is possible to study two programs at a regular scope or one at an expanded scope and the other at a regular scope.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and the Environment

Studies are offered in the single-major track with the following exceptions:

725 Agroinformatics
